Innovative Non-deterministic Simulation Methods
Professional
Background and Education:
After a profound
education in automotive and biomechanical engineering, Rainer began his career
as a research engineer with Porsche AG in Weissach, Germany. His tasks involved
all aspects of passive safety research including accident analysis, crash
testing and mathematical modeling primarily of advanced safety systems. Based
on the experience gained, Rainer became a pioneer in mathematical modeling
of vehicle occupants in crash situations, introducing new techniques like
airbag folding and airbag simulation based on the Finite-Element-Method. He
then proceeded in applying these new techniques in automotive development
projects and helped launch the first side impact airbags that went into series
production.
As
founder and Managing Director of an engineering services company, he has gained
management experience and has further developed innovative technologies which
are today applied by the leading car manufacturers worldwide in the area of
robust engineering and risk management.
These non-deterministic simulation techniques are currently transforming traditional
development processes and are using numerical simulation to drive quality
management (TQM) within the manufacturing industries.
Rainer holds a diploma
in automotive engineering and a master degree in biomechanical engineering
from Wayne State University, Detroit.
